The physical effects of concussions Physically CTE CTE basically make the cells spit out a protein that can spill out due to blunt force trauma this protein can disable neural pathways that controls things such as memory or judgement. According to research published by Boston University 87 out of 91 former NFL players tested positive for CTE or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy those 87 had suffered at least 3 concussions during their career.
